Dementia: where can you turn? Alzheimer Café in Beuningen on 12 October

Does your father forget things more and more often, or are you worried about your partner? Dementia brings many questions, and it is not always clear who to ask. That is the subject of the Alzheimer Café in Beuningen on Monday 12 October, with the theme 'Waar klop je aan bij dementie?' — where do you turn with dementia?

An Alzheimer Café is a meeting place for people with dementia, their family, informal carers and anyone else who is interested. In Beuningen the café reopened on 14 September, with alderman Bea Schouten doing the honours; that first evening was about the difference between forgetfulness and dementia, with Renee van der Sanden, a specialist in geriatric medicine, as guest.

On 12 October you can walk in from 19.00 for coffee or tea. From 19.30 to 20.00 there is a conversation with an expert — a zorgtrajectbegeleider (a dementia case manager) explains what help there is and how to find it. After a break there is room for your questions from 20.30 to 21.00, and you can stay and talk until 21.30. The address is the meeting room of the Protestantse kerk (Protestant church), Kerkplein 7 in Beuningen. Entry is free.

The café then returns every month: on 9 November about the different forms of dementia, and on 7 December about becoming an informal carer.
