Caring for someone in Berg en Dal? Petanque, a pub quiz and a € 50 gift voucher

Do you look after your partner, a parent, a child or a neighbour who lives in the municipality of Berg en Dal? Then November has something in store for you. Mantelzorg Berg en Dal — part of Forte Welzijn, also on behalf of the municipality, as De Rozet reports — is organising two afternoons for informal carers. And the municipality once again offers a mantelzorgcompliment (carer's token of appreciation) worth € 50.
On Friday 6 November there is a petanque afternoon at Petanque Vereniging Beek, Alde Weteringweg 3 in Beek. Walk in from 13.45; play runs from 14.00 to 16.00. It takes place indoors and the court is wheelchair accessible. Everyone is welcome, from beginners to keen players. You can sign up until 28 October. Please note: parking at the club is limited; you can park on Marterstraat (via the cycle tunnel) or, for a fee, at Leisurelands.
On Tuesday 10 November, the Dag van de Mantelzorg (Day of the Carer), there is a pub quiz at De Mallemolen, Kloosterstraat 11 in Groesbeek. Coffee, tea and something sweet are ready from 13.30; the quiz starts at 14.00 and runs until about 16.30. You play six rounds in teams of two to six people, with a drink and a snack in between. You can sign up until 1 November.
Both afternoons are free for informal carers who are registered with Mantelzorg Berg en Dal. Sign up via info@mantelzorgbergendal.nl or by phone on 085 040 60 66; leave your name and number and they will call you back. Not registered yet? Then you can register with Mantelzorg Berg en Dal — through the same address and number.
Then the mantelzorgcompliment 2026: a gift voucher worth € 50 as a token of appreciation. Applications are possible only between 1 October and 10 November, and only online via mantelzorgbergendal.nl — not by phone, post or email. If you cannot do it yourself, someone else may do it for you. Important: it is not the carer who applies, but the person who receives the care and lives in the municipality of Berg en Dal. The carer does not have to live in the municipality, and a young carer can also receive a token. The conditions are that the carer helps unpaid, for more than eight hours a week and for longer than three months, as a relative or friend and not as a professional. There is one token per carer and one per address, except for children in a family who are carers too. The voucher is delivered to the carer in December. Questions? Until 10 November you can call 085 040 60 66 on working days between 9.00 and 17.00.
One thing to watch: do you pay a family member or friend for care from your pgb (a personal budget you use to buy your own care)? Then that care is not unpaid, and that person is not eligible for the token.
Berg en Dal is one of the nine municipalities in the area we work in. Is caring for your loved one getting heavy? Feel free to call us — together we will look at whether support or day activities can lighten the load.
